Butler stole America’s heart during last year’s NCAA tournament thanks to their remarkable run to the title game.
And George Mason? The team that charmed America with their Final Four run four years before Butler did it? Seems everyone’s forgotten about them – including poll voters -- despite their 20-5 record and perch atop the CAA. (Except for savvy readers.)
So, like any smart athletic department, George Mason went viral with a counterattack.
Two segments sum it up best:
When it sets the stage:
“Sure I am. I love Duke.”
And when the Patriots’ roster is described.
“That’s the thing about this team. On any given night, there are half a dozen players who could be the best player on the court.”
“Can any of them dunk? (pause) I like dunks.”
A good basketball team and a funny sports department! That’s a winning combo.
Even if the Patriots don’t win the CAA tournament, they’re still a solid bet to make the Big Dance. And could they make another Final Four run?
Not sure I’d bet against ‘em.
