American U players get their 15 minutes with trick shot video

The latest viral video features American University basketball players Joe Hill and Steve Luptak doing their best to best those trick shot guys from Dude Perfect. And it’s an impressive display.

That’s not just one or two trick shots. That’s two minutes of tricks shots, all from various positions, angles and random places around the American gym. Hey, that’s what college students do.

The recent trick shot video from UConn quarterback Johnny McEntee inspired the pair to do their own version, which was filmed by team manager Tiana Hakimzadeh and edited by sophomore guard Blake Jolivette.

Their favorite shot? The last one when Hill throws the ball in the air and Luptak throws another at it, knocking the original through the hoop.

That was probably the one that took us the most time,” Luptak told Ryan Greene of The Dagger. “It took us anywhere from 30 to 40 attempts. It took the most time because we had to chase down the balls every time we missed it.

“If we would try it [now] 10 times, we’d probably make it once. I’d give it a 10 or 20 percent success rate.”

They might flash some of those skills when American, the No. 2 seed in the Patriot League tournament, plays No. 7 seed Colgate tonight. Unfortunately, the game isn’t on TV.

We’ll have to wait for another video.
