Wisconsin bummer -- Sunday’s game conflicts with Packers

The Kohl Center routinely provides Wisconsin with one of the game’s best home-court edges (well, at least until the last few games). That’s to be expected when you mix roughly 17,000 fans with an efficient, time-tested system like Bo Ryan’s.

Sunday might dampen advantages.

Despite efforts from the Big Ten and Wisconsin’s athletic department, the home game against Nebraska is still slated for a 6 p.m. ET tipoff – just 90 minutes after the Green Bay Packers’ playoff game against the New York Giants kicks off.

“We made a very legitimate effort to move our game off the window of the Packers game,” associate athletic director Justin Doherty said in a press release. “But changing the time of our game would have affected the travel, timing and schedules of up to half the schools in our conference, either on the men’s or women’s side. This would have required the approval of all those schools. The conference office tried to help facilitate a move, but logistically it was just not feasible.”

A game the same time as the Packers’ first playoff game? I’d say that deserves one of these.
